Ford Capri Radio Repair and Servicing
If your Ford Capri has poor sound quality or is very quiet on one of the channels then it is very likely some or all of the electrolytic capacitors on the circuit board are leaking and need replacing. This is relatively easy to do especially if you have some experience in electronics and soldering. The capacitors I changed are as follows and they came from Farnell in the UK. Note that the MOQ is 5 off so you will have some left over.
2811488 x 5 (MOQ) 330uF 3V
1144617 x 3 1000uF 16V
1144609 x 5 (MOQ) 220uF 10V
1144627 x 5 (MOQ) 100uF 35V
1144619 x 5 (MOQ) 47uF 25V

The Ford Capri radio cassette fitted to all late model Capris
To do this job you will need:
1) A soldering iron
2) a solder sucker tool (to remove the old solder) or solder braid
3) some leaded solder (old style)
4) optional a binocular microscope to help see what you are doing
Remove and replace each capacitor in turn making sure that you have the pins the right way around. Note that capacitors have a positive and negative terminal and the negative is usually marked on the side of the drum. It is very important you fit them the correct way around otherwise they will blow up when powered.

Unfortunately these are in German but there are lots if useful drawings diagrams and schematics so are still highly valuable for someone wanting to have a go at repairing the radio. I have been told that if the main on / off volume pot fails then they are next to impossible to source and replace.
